Meal Plans Page Title Rutgers meal plans are designed with the needs and diversity of our student body in mind. Students at Rutgers have their choice of several options for dining on campus. Options include location, menu, and the number of meals in a chosen plan.

Every student purchasing a meal plan may use it by presenting their RU Connection ID Card at any of the five dining halls throughout the New Brunswick / Piscataway and Camden campuses:

Meal exchange program

Due to the closing of Cooper Dining Hall there is a meal exchange program at The Douglass Cafe for Breakfast, Dinner and all Weekend Meals.

The meal exchange program is not available any weekday from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.

The meal exchange program will be available:
     Monday through Friday from Cafe Opening until 10:00 am
     Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm until Cafe Closing
     Saturday and Sunday during all Cafe hours.

All meal plans are based on a Block Plan format. This means you will select the number of meals you anticipate using for an entire semester. The meal plan you select for the Fall semester will be automatically selected and charged to your term bill for the Spring semester. Meal Plans are initially selected when signing a University Housing Contract. The Housing Office also has non-resident meal plan selection forms. Meal plans are non-transferable, but you may use up to 10 of your meals each semester for guests and pre-arranged special events. Choose your Dining Plan very carefully. Any unused visits will expire at the end of each semester, and you will not receive any credits or refunds for unused meals. You can monitor how many visits you have left each time you use your card. For the New Brunswick / Piscataway students only there is a
2 week change period at the beginning of each semester should you feel the need to adjust your Dining Plan at that time.

All requests to change, increase, reduce or cancel your meal plan MUST be made directly with The RU Express/Board Plan Office, or one of the RU Connection Card Offices. As a reminder, Rutgers Dining Services offers 19 meal periods each week: breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday and brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. Dining Services also offers late night takeout meals Monday through Thursday at various locations.

Special Plans for Non-Resident Hall Students

Rutgers offers two additional meal plans to fit the needs of apartment residents, commuter students and others living off campus who want the convenience of an occasional on-campus lunch or dinner. Both these plans also allow the same flexibility as the other plans, as well as the ability to use up to 10 meals each semester for guests.


Kosher Meal Plans

Students may choose a kosher option consisting of prepackaged kosher meals at any of the Dining Halls. Simply contact the Dining Hall manager with your request before arriving at the Dining Hall. Students who select the kosher option may also choose from the wide variety of non-kosher items available at all the Dining Halls (understanding none of the Rutgers University dining halls are kosher facilities). The kosher meal plan option is available at any of the meal plan levels (285, 255, 210, 150, 105, 75, and 50). For more information, contact the RU Express and Board Plan Office at 732-932-8041.

Students with an express interest in a Kosher Meal Plan may contact Chabad House. Residential students opting to purchase a meal plan with Chabad House may do so; to be exempt from the minimum meal plan requirement. Top...
